I’ve had microdermabrasion done at my dermatologist before so I was really anxious, and a little intimidated, to try this myself at home. When I first took everything out of the box I was overwhelmed with the different wands and tips and how I needed to use everything. It does come with a user manual. They give you some basic instructions, but I wish they would’ve gone into more detail. I had no idea how long I was supposed to use this. I know it says 2 to 3 times a week but how long each time? They do show a little video, which helped, but I really had to do my own research.The first thing I did was put everything together and get familiar with all the tips. One word of caution, be careful when putting the tips into the base. They all fit in easily, but one of the tips, once I put it in I couldn’t get it back out (see my picture). I didn’t force the tip in, but when I tried to remove it, it wouldn’t budge. I even had my husband try to get it out, we even used pliers, but nothing, it’s stuck. It’s not a big deal for me though, it’s one of the larger tips that they show to be used for knee or elbow areas, which I probably won’t do. Also, some of the tips don’t sit in the base very well. For instance, when I had all the tips in and accidentally bumped into the base, some of the tips fell out, they don’t sit in there very secure.Now onto using the machine. At first, I didn’t think it was working because there was no suction coming from the machine even when turned on high. I then realized you have to have your finger on the little hole that’s on the wand (see my picture). Also, you have to have the tip on your skin to see the pressure gauge go up. I know that should be common sense, but I didn’t realize that. I turned the machine on and was watching the pressure gauge to see how high it was going to go up without realizing that it had to be on my skin first for it to gauge the suction. So, just start with the lowest suction setting, put it to your skin and then adjust the intensity at that point.A couple things worth mentioning. I find it helps to hold my skin taut when using this machine on my face. It doesn’t hurt but my skin is always red after using, but does fade fairly quickly. Make sure you start with a clean face and I always use a soothing facial oil afterwards. You won’t want to use any harsh face creams on your face immediately after. My skin does feel very soft and smooth after using. Obviously everyone will have different results when using this machine, depending on how often and how long you’re using it. I’ve been using it for about three weeks now and I feel a scar I had on my chin is definitely looking a little less noticeable. I haven’t noticed much of a difference with my wrinkles, but I feel it’s still too soon to see any definite results. My skin texture definitely appears smoother and I’m really anxious to see the results after 12 weeks of continued use.
